Grassroots Democratic Governance

This programme area focuses on the credibility and legitimacy of democratic processes at the local government level. In terms of elections, we work for the credibility of electoral processes and outcomes with the goal of ensuring the votes count and post-election outcomes are reflective of the express wishes of the electorate.

In the governance phase following elections, we engage critical institutions through knowledge production, and dialogue sessions to reinforce best practices to enable them achieve effective governance for the benefit of citizens.

Our Approach

Grassroots Democracy

Our role as an organization is not to take over the participatory opportunities of communities. Our focus is to support communities with the knowledge and tools, which will enable their robust involvement in democratic governance processes.

Research And Knowledge Production

This Center conduct research to gather data, analyze trends, and identify gaps in existing policies and programs affecting people at the grassroots.

Capacity Building

Through robust civic orientation, we build the capacity of citizens and communities to engage key grassroots democratic and governance processes. Through innovative approaches, we galvanize citizens to ensure governance effectively delivers social goods and services. For us, democracy is not in the ritual of periodic elections. Grassroots democracy is about active participation of the people in all spheres of decision making.
